An unknown art-work by an unknow artist.
The South Campus of The Royal University of Fine Arts.

I bet those of you who had gone to the "សាលាក្រហម – Red School" would recognise this piece of statue immediately. It was there under the "សាលកញ្ចក់ – Glass Room" since we first step on the campus and it was there when we graduated, but im not sure if it's still there as i havent been there for a long while now. To other people this is just some art but to us who had been studying there, we see it more than just the art work, it tell us more than what the artist himself wanted to express through his work. It brings us back those souvenirs, memories and reminds us what we had done back then. Cuz we've been with this statue for some 6 years and a half and we actually watched it changed, from a new piece then eroded and then broken. She used to have a full body. And when we look at it now and at what we did, there are so many things that we dont understand our-old-self either. Lots of things had happened, lots of things… lots of stupid things, starting from taking part in demonstrations to skipping class for ពោតស្ងោរ or karaoke. And there are more,.. drinking, palying, gambling, organising party, smoking, fighting…. Hmmmm you name it. And all of this just for one unspoken reason, we were kinda trying to be cool hehehehe.

Anyway this picture was taken with a film camera Nikon FM10 while i was learning photography. Well even if i have gone to photography class but i dont think i improve much. I remember the funniest and most embarrassed thing back then was that my first film i ever developed myself was all blank, yes i didnt put the film role correctly. We all had a couple of lessons the first few days and then did a photo essay on the "ភ្នំដូនពេញ – Wat Phnom". The days after was our most exciting day we all developed our own film in the darkroom, Hmmm you might have guessed how i felt when i saw the transparant of my work, Grrrrr… but my bad. Anyway i still couldnt call myself a photographer yet but yeah i like still like shooting pictures…. hmmm once in a while.

Bro, if you are reading this i know exactly what you are gonna say about me when it comes to taking picture. ^_^

That’s a cool picture. I like traditional photo camera than digital one. I myself own SRL Nikon F75. There is so much about photography to learn. But since it is a hobby, then learning is quite fun. Keep posting your own photo.

It’s a very good photo bro. 🙂 I could not find much thing to improve apart from bluring the background more. In another word, trying to increase the bokeh. How to do this? Well, you can simply increase the aperture to 2.8 or something.

Anyway, I can’t recall seeing that statue anywhere at the Red-School. It could be the fact that it’s been too long since I was there. :\

Thanks ThaRum for your comments, For me i prefere digital camera to a film one. I’d like to have a digital SLR ^_^ and this word “digital” alone quite explain why.

K1, well i told you that i’ll never be a professional photographer. But if you wanna be my model, then im not gonna say no. 😉

Khmerbird, i think this info might interest you. I heard that they have this kinda photography class at Pannasastra University. The photo class i attended back then was organized by the CCF, it was a 20 days lesson or something.

Yes, Khmeryoeung, I do rememeber you i just checked your blog and i then recognised you ehhehehe anyway i bet you are the one that took the picture of us 4 during the New Year right? anyway happy to see you here.

Bro, i like to use macro as well. I like to take close up picture and leave the background blur. But too bad that i couldnt do much with my current camera. Anyway i bet you couldnt recall the above statue because when we were in Preparation year, we rarely get close to the សាលកញ្ចក់ where the statue is placed as our class was at the very corner of the campus. I remember that our classroom was the worse classroom ever but we didnt seem to care much about it back then. ^_^

I agree with you, digital photograpy is the way to go now. For all folks who are used to the film photography, you could absolutely apply your kills with the dSLR too.

Bro, if you really wanna have a dSLR, I probably can hook you up one; you can just pay 2/3 of the total cost, and the rest will be on me. I can get Canon 350D Twin Lens Kit (75-300mm) black for around AU$1,250 or less.

Drop me an email if you’re interested in the deal. 😛

Bro, the deal sounds interesting but too bad i want so many things at the moment and i havent prioritised them yet, a laptop, a dSLR, a car stereo….. but i would consider of those things later, need to save up for a master degree first. ^_^
