Yeah, you’re right dear, it’s the south gate. And it appears that you still have good memory. ^_^
I noticed that many Wats in Battambang have a very distinctive architecture from the usual ones.. I was told that it was of Thai influence, dating back from the Thai rule in the 1800s. Is it true?
Well i am not aware of that, but I dont personally think that it’s of Thai influence. We use various ក្បាច់(styles), and the most common is ភ្ញីអង្គរ while the Thai uses ភ្ញីភ្លើង for decoration. Normally we can see the difference between our Khmer style and Thai style, if you have noticed it Khmer style looks more calm while Thai style looks more agitated or ឆើតឆាយ.
I like this pic. nice and shape. i think it would be better than this if you used more wide-angle lense. anyways, most Wats in Battambang are really cool. they look so huge, sophisticated and historic.
I thought I was witnessing a palace of heaven. It’s really amazing. I must visit Battambong some day.

The Siamese influence ? Definitely not. It was us Khmer who influence the Thai. Look at Thai so-cal Grand Royal Palace — copied Angkorian styles carved in stones.
